Client Spotlight: Introducing the Sphere by Breck Ironworks

Customizing the Classic Tankhead Fire Pit for Modern Mountain Design

This build demonstrates that a classic design can always receive a fresh, modern update. We recently delivered this highly customized Tankhead Fire Pit to a client. They wanted a durable, yet sophisticated, centerpiece for their outdoor space.

The Sleek Twist: Adding the Infield Cap

Our traditional Tankhead design is always a success. However, this client wanted a cleaner, more contemporary edge. We achieved this look by customizing the unit with a sleek, low-profile infield cap. This modification gives the custom steel fire pit a smooth, uninterrupted surface. It integrates seamlessly with the surrounding deck.

This beauty measures a substantial 47 inches across. But don’t worry, every one of our pieces is handcrafted to your exact specifications. If you are searching for a custom metal fire pit in a unique diameter, we can build the perfect size for your space.

Design Details That Define Quality

Beyond the sleek silhouette, we selected the functional features of this build for both performance and aesthetics:

  • Log Set: We fitted this unit with our popular Trailhead Log Set. We sized each log precisely to complement the pit’s dimensions. Ultimately, it’s engineered to throw serious, robust heat—ideal for chilly Colorado evenings.
  • Fuel Source: The pit runs cleanly and efficiently on natural gas (NG). This makes ignition and maintenance simple. It allows for instant enjoyment.
  • Invisible Controls: Clean lines were paramount for this design. The controls are virtually invisible, thanks to a meticulously placed, easy-to-access key valve. This choice ensures the fire pit maintains its smooth, functional-art aesthetic without interruption.

Help Us Name This Work of Art!

This bespoke piece truly feels like functional art. Therefore, we think it deserves a great name! Were we debating calling this modern marvel ‘The Eclipse’? Or does the new cap make it ‘The Half Moon’? The final name is The Sphere!
